Civil Parish of Orleans is closed,
All Catholic Schools are Closed. In addition, if possible, St. Benedict will send out a text message.
Safe Environment Program Information In the effort to protext all students in our care, the Archdiocese requires schools to offer Safe Environment training to students and parents. At the beginning of each year, the students receive training regarding the standards of conduct with respect to abuse and neglect. Teachers discuss age-appropriate topics with students about personal respect, safety, and improper touching and relationships.
The Safe Environment program requires all employees and volunteers, which includes parents, to participate in the training and background screening requirements. All employees must comply with the program to be employed at St. Benedict the Moor or any Catholic School.
Attendance There are 177 student attendance days in the 2020-2021 school year. Students are expected to attend school every day. In order to be considered for promotion, a student cannot miss more than 10
unexcused days (state policy). This policy applies to all school students in the state of Louisiana. If a student is absent, he/she should return with a note from home or the doctor. Schools are allowed to accept three parent letters for absent days. All other absent days must have a doctor's note explaining.
Students with excessive tardies will be referred to the FINS Program.
School Tardiness School takes in at 7:50am each day.
Any student arriving after 7:50 is considered tardy. When students do not arrive on time, they lose valuable time and miss important information needed to start their day. Students arriving at 10:30 are marked as half day attendance.
